Fundraising Run for the Spiritual Care Sanctuary

The ‘Spiritual Care Sanctuary’ is a new centre to help patients with major illness, especially cancer, and their carers. As a doctor, I realise that healthcare professionals have the heart but not the time and environment to provide emotional, psychological and sustainable support to those in need.As an ultra-marathon runner, I also share many difficulties and feelings of these patients and of those who have to look after them. First of all, serious illness is obviously a major physical challenge, just like trail running. Secondly, we both experience the emotional ups and downs that go with a challenge and need support to go through with it. In addition, serious illness and long-distance running is not a temporary challenge but one that goes on, longer than what most people would understand and bear. These are why I am fundraising for this project by running the HK100 Grand Slam in January 2024. I will run a total of 192 kilometres with a climb of 8770 metres (in three back-to-back races of 33km, 56km and 103km on consecutive days). Please join me in meeting this challenge and donate for a worthy cause.
